Last year I had the opportunity to present scientific evidence against evolution and for a sudden complex origin of life on the campuses of Fresno State University and one of the largest High Schools in the city of Fresno.
Opposition from many on the faculty of both schools was fierce. The following is from the blog of one of the teachers.
“…one of the old school Liars for Jesus, Don Patton, is going to be speaking at his public high school. This is disgraceful. Patton is a sleazy fraud, and to have him abuse public school facilities with his dishonesty is completely inappropriate; confine him to the churches, where nonstop lies are a regular feature.
“Heckle the freaking reatrd! …Hey Patton, let's see your imaginary god. How come you are using all the benefits of science just to get here and spew your retarded insanities!”
(Some are much too profane to print. DRP).
We understand their reaction. The fallacies of their religion (the humanistic naturalism that dominates our educational system) are being exposed. Teachers have invested much time and effort, trying to persuade students to accept these fallacies. One teacher wrote.
“…this time the young earth creationists dog-and-pony show (sponsored by this local church) is going to take place on successive evenings at my high school campus theater…. To put it bluntly, how in the (expletive deleted) am I supposed to do my job when this church sponsored pseudo-scientist parades onto my public high school campus in the evening, and (in the course of pushing his young earth views) basically calls our entire curriculum into question and paints teachers like me as purveyors of falsehoods. Bottom line…I’m not going to take this lying down.””
Of course, what really disturbs him is that his students are looking at all the evidence (some that has been censored from the textbooks) as well as alternative explanations of the evidence and they are seeing that there is a better explanation.
The response of the students was recorded on comment cards. Some of the comments are embarrassingly self-serving, but I believe they are revealing and shed light on the teachers’ reactions. Their own words express what was happening better than I can. (All are from non-church members.)
“Right on. About time someone told the truth. I am interested in studying about the Bible – Please contact me. I want to know more about this church” (Came as a result of the ad in campus newspaper)
“I have been looking for a church. I think I have found one.”
“Very informative. Opened my eyes to something I had not looked into prior to this lecture.” (Came as a result of extra credit assignment, CSU Fresno)
“Wonderful. Very fair to both sides.”
“I would love to have the CD to share with some of the faculty.”
“Very good. I like his argument.” (One of the faculty)
“Thank you so much! What wonderful information…”
“This is so exciting. I’m really enjoying your presentation.”
Thank you for the information. You explained thoroughly. Your answers were respectful. It is important that we are open and not narrow-minded w/blinders like some of the questioners were…nit picky. What are the evolutionists afraid of and defensive about?”
“It was astonishing. Learned so much about the science of creation & evolution. Dr. Patton provided so much valuable information.
“Exceptionally good.”
“Thank you.”
The church at Sun Garden in Fresno worked hard and they took a lot of “flack.” They worked hard, following up on many new contacts and requests for information. So far there have been six baptisms and three restorations as a result. It is our prayer that we can have similar results from our efforts here in Port Arthur.
